Back Care and Maintenance

The goal of Back Care and Maintenance training is to train employees to minimize the risk of incurring a work-related back injury.

Our educational program will provide the key guidelines recommended by our Occupational Health Professionals and will train your workers to apply these guidelines directly to your workplace environment. Workers will learn to practice appropriate precautions and use appropriate personal protective equipment whenever applicable.

The training program contains the following topics:

• Learn to prevent back injuries
• Maintaining good posture
• How to plan before you lift
• How to position yourself correctly in front of your load
• Learn to lift with your legs and not with your back
• Learn why setting the load down correctly is important
• Recognize the need to get help when you need it
• Learn exercises that will help strengthen your back and reduce stress
• Learn how excess weight can exacerbate back problems
• Personal protective equipment that can help
• What to do when a back injury occurs

Professional instructors follow adult learning principles. Each program includes an interactive format, as well as the use of handouts, visual aids, hands-on practice, lecture, and instructor-led discussion.
