Safety Training

Electrical Safety

The objective of Electrical Safety training is to provide employees with general awareness classroom instruction in safe work practices around electricity. Training is required for employees who face the risk of electrical shock that has not been reduced to a safe level. "Qualified persons" -- those permitted to work on or near exposed energized parts -- are subject to additional training requirements not addressed by this program. This training program is designed to satisfy, in whole or in part, the training requirements of 29 CFR 1910.332(b)(1). Employees may require additional training pertaining to their particular job assignments from their employers.

Upon successful completion of training, employees will demonstrate an understanding of:

• Electrical hazards in the workplace
• Protective measures which provide protection from electrical shock
• Basic electrical equipment inspection procedures
• Safe equipment disconnects and restart procedures
