Pedestrian Safety

The objective of Pedestrian Safety training is to train your employees to work safely around forklifts and other powered industrial trucks. This program will provide your employees with an awareness of the hazards they face, and with tools for minimizing the risk of accident. Trained pedestrians are also a benefit to equipment operators, enabling them to handle materials more safely and efficiently. Pedestrian Safety is an important component of your company's comprehensive safety program.

Upon successful completion of training, trainees will demonstrate an understanding of:

• The potential hazards involved in working in close proximity to forklifts and other powered industrial trucks
• The safety rules which govern pedestrian traffic
• The challenges faced by truck operators, including obstructed vision, noise, and the demands of the load
• The importance of establishing eye contact between the pedestrian and the driver
• The pedestrian's responsibilities for personal safety and courtesy when working near powered industrial trucks
