Respiratory Protection

The objective of Respiratory Protection training is to instruct employees in the safe and effective use of respirators in the workplace. All employees who wear respirators as a part of their job duties require specific training in their use. Occupational Health Solutions can also conduct qualitative fit testing of your respirator-wearing employees. This training program is designed to satisfy, in whole or in part, the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.134(k).

Upon successful completion of training, trainees will demonstrate an understanding of:

• When and where air purifying respirators are required in your facility
• How improper fit, usage, or maintenance can compromise the protective effect of the respirator
• The procedure for using required respiratory equipment
• How to use the respirator effectively in emergency situations, including situations in which the respirator malfunctions
• How to inspect, put on and remove, use, and check the seals of the respirator
• Maintenance and storage procedures
• Recognizing medical signs and symptoms that may limit or prevent the effective use of respirators
• General requirements of OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard
